Just finished the 5-week EMT course here and I have nothing but good things to say! I went into this course with no medical knowledge at all and came out feeling ready to work ASAP! The instructors Jeff, Michelle, Jason, and others are truly dedicated to making good EMTs and really invest their time into your education. The class doesn't just focus on passing the NREMT but also on being a good provider. Had the best, most memorable experience with the best classmates and instructors. I'm so glad I chose Project Heartbeat!I also want to mention that if you're confused on where you want to work, whether as an EMT or firefighter or something else related, this is the perfect course to figure it out. They show you all the different professions related to EMS and how to get there, as well as connecting you with people that can help you in your journey once you graduate the class.

My experience at PHB for the EMT-B training program was absolutely brilliant. Not only did the instructors prepare me exceptionally well for NREMT prep through course materials and study materials, but they are also well dedicated to teaching beyond the test and how to be a good clinician as an EMT in the field. It's set apart by the genuine dedication of the instructors and volunteers to cultivating competent, compassionate clinicians, not just test-takers. The program is also structured in a way that helps gradually build skill/competencies and self-trust. The real-world training exercises combined with the trauma lanes experience, the latter unique to PHB in the East Bay, were incredibly helpful for growing my confidence week over week. The instruction staff is also super encouraging and always open and receptive to questions (it's overall a very constructive learning environment!).

Project Heartbeat is the best place to take your EMTB class! I took the 5-week program and left feeling ready to get to work. They have a well thought out program that provides you with everything you need from the CPR certification all the way until you become a certified EMT. Jeff, Michelle, and Jason are all amazing instructors, along with the other volunteers and former students who assist in the classroom and in skill activities!

Kas was my instructor, she was very knowledgeable and made the class flow well. The venue is at the top of the building so there is also a nice view while you’re going through your training. Overall a good experience.

PHB 42! I loved my experience with my group and the PHB crew. It is fast paced but surprisingly easy to get through as long as you’re up for it. Great real life EMT scenarios, and testing was always very straight forward. If you put in the time this is a great course with great teachers. I passed this course last year and will be in Fire Academy soon. Thanks PHB and good luck to future EMT cadets!

I’d highly recommend going here. I was worried about taking the 5 week course since I’m not very good at absorbing information specially at a quick way, but I was able to do it with them and pass the NREMT very quickly and on my first try.You just have to take the extra time and dedicate yourself to studying on your own and trust the process. The instructors know what they are doing and are always welcoming and happy to help when you need it. They were willing to work with me financially and it ended up paying off in the end. Thanks to the PHB staff and if you’re up for the challenge there’s no better place than here.

The program is as it says. 2.5, 5 week, 8 week. If you are not motivated and dont know how to study at home, this may not be for you. I took the 5 week and was able to pass the NREMT in 30 minutes at 70. The instructors can be rough around the edges and they wont sugarcoat, but they are passionate. Listen, don’t get butt hurt, dont throw your classmates under, and trust the process. If I could take this class again I would. Thank you Angelic, Brian, and Jess. Thank you to all the other instructors as well. PHB50

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This program moves very quickly but will teach you more than enough to get certified. Yes, there may be times where you want to quit but you have to think about your long term goal and future. This program will provide you with the knowledge, resources, and friends to help you get through it.

Project Heartbeat’s 5-week EMT course was outstanding, with engaging lectures, realistic simulations that prepared me exceptionally well. The instructors were passionate, and the small classes ensured personalized feedback. When I advanced to paramedic school, I was far ahead of peers from less rigorous programs, excelling in patient assessments and high-pressure scenarios thanks to Project Heartbeat’s thorough training. Highly recommend!

The instructors not only are excellent teachers but they care about you and do an amazing job at ensuring you succeed in this program.
