ACLS Certification Blended Learning Overview
HeartCode® ACLS uses a personalized adaptive algorithm to guide students along the most efficient path to ACLS mastery. Students move through a continuously adapting learning experience shaped by their performance and their self-reported confidence on each probe. The course presents content through self-directed learning modules, interactive probes, and Cognitive Assessment Activities.
After completing the online portion, students attend an in-person instructor led session at our Oakland Campus to practice and demonstrate skills.
HeartCode ACLS delivers the AHA’s ACLS blended learning method, combining self-paced eLearning with a required hands-on skills session.
Part 1:
- Complete before Part 2 (skills session).
- The new adaptive learning format adjusts to each student’s experience level, so completion time for the HeartCode ACLS online course may vary. Plan to spend 3–5 hours to complete this self-paced course, accessible anytime from any computer.
- Use HeartCode ACLS for either initial certification or renewal of your ACLS for Healthcare Providers Course.
Part 2:
- At the end of the eLearning course, complete the course survey to generate your Completion Certificate.
- Upload your Completion Certificate to your portal when scheduling your skills check.
- Practice, demonstrate, and successfully complete skills testing at an in-person instructor led session at our Oakland Campus to receive your ACLS Provider Card the same day.

- Systemic approach (assessment)
- High Quality BLS
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Use of medication
- Rhythym recognition
- CPR coach
- Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
- Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics

- Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance and their self- reported confidence level related to each probing question.
- Course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probes, and Cognitive Assessment Activities.
- The student has a choice of completing a pre-hospital or in-hospital contextualized track.
Course Completion eCard and Continuing Education
American Heart Association ACLS Provider Course Completion eCard, valid for two years.
Board of Registered Nursing Provider approved for up to 6 CE units
EMS CE’s available and may vary by license type
